today's special

I'm sure I will change my mind a million times about the tiniest of details between now and the actual wedding date, but I'm leaning towards putting our dinner menu on a large chalkboard, canvas, etc. and framing it. G has requested a "chalkboard menu like they use in restaurants in New Orleans." Aww. I love his sentimental side!

and so it begins...

Hello!

So many thoughts have been racing through my mind since the engagement and I've been a little scatter-brained (hence ignoring our lovely little blog).  I feel like I've finally reached a point where I have some clarity and can start moving forward with all of the fun details.

Let's start with some beautiful couture gowns by Elie Saab, shall we?

I'll take any of the following stunning gowns to wear on my wedding day...or any day for that matter.  Please and thank you.

goin' to the chapel

Hello, hello lovely DC readers!

I know I've been absent these last few weeks (great posts by Hills, love the tufted headboards!) but as Hillary mentioned, G proposed while we were on vacation in New Orleans and life has been a whirlwind since returning to Kansas City.  I literally can't stop beaming.  I can't wait to use DC as an outlet to post ideas, inspiration, and details for our wedding day!

There is so much to do and so much to be excited about. Not only do I get the chance to plan my very own wedding with the help of G, my parents, and my beautiful and talented sisters, but I get to marry the man of my dreams.

diy: tufted headboard

I've been eyeing tufted headboards for awhile now, searching for the perfect color to compliment our chocolate brown walls. After a little research, I've found it's actually a pretty simple DIY project. I've purchased the materials and just need a little inspiration to make it happen. Here are a few of my faves. Wish me luck!

wedding bells are ringing... again!

Just a few days ago we announced exciting news - that our sister Lauren is engaged! ...Well, I am excited to announce that we have another engagement in the Domestic Chic family....

STEPHANIE is engaged as well!!!!!!

Two engagements? In one family? In one week? Why yes!

On her wonderful excursion to the south, her sweet boyfriend George proposed. We are absolutely ecstatic about their engagement and our family is trilled to have yet another wedding to look forward to. It is going to be a crazy, busy, exciting, love-filled year and we are so blessed.

We'll be giving updates often on the planning of both weddings, so stay tuned.

Congratulations and best wishes to my sweet sisters!

wedding bells are ringing!

We have some exciting news to share today... Our sweet sister Lauren is engaged!!!!! We couldn't be happier for her and her wonderful fiance, Steve. We wish them the best during this blissful time and cannot wait to start helping her plan. She lives in beautiful wine country in Northern California, so we know it will be a gorgeous and charming wedding. Here are a few photos to get in the mood!

hooray for the red, white and blue

Our grandmother, Pat Potucek, always went above and beyond for holidays. She was an artist and decked her house for every event, especially the 4th of July -- American flags, paper mache Uncle Sam's, painted wooden firecrackers, and red and blue tablecloths. She loved to celebrate and always made family gatherings and holidays a joy. It must be in our blood because we, too, are so excited every year to celebrate America's Birthday. For a little "PATriotic" inspiration, here are some of our favorite red, white and blue finds.

Have a safe & happy 4th of July!
