love ya, love ya, love ya

Hello lovely DC readers.  We know that we've been neglecting this space for the past few weeks, but Hillary and I have been dealing with the loss of our sweet grandmother, Pat Potucek.  New posts are coming soon and we can't wait to share some our grandmother's legacy with you.  Lots of love to you all.

a happy thought for a happy friday

if the shoe fits

I think Hillary and I are both in lavender moods.  And, as usual, mine is in pump form.  Happy Friday everyone!

Um, you all know my obsession with bows, so when I stumbled upon these on jcrew.com I flipped!  Love love love love.  Happy Friday!

if the shoe fits

It's casual Friday and I'm sporting my sperry top-siders today. They're a good look with my skinnys, KU tee (beak 'em) and scarf, if I do say so myself. But in a perfect world I'd add a little touch of glam with these instead. Love the subtlety of the gold, don't you?

chippendeal

First off, let me apologize for the pun.  I had to do it.

I am slightly obsessed with chippendale chairs and have been for years.

Unfortunately I am not obsessed with the price tags of said chair.  I've looked high and low for a knock-off on just about every website imaginable and have yet to find the perfect stand-in.  The iconic  Jonathan Adler Chippendale Chair is a whopping $595.00 - which may not seem like a fortune to some, but on a 20-something budget, I'm afraid that's a bit too much.

Ballard Designs offers the Macau chair, but I still can't justify $200.00.

So all of this being said, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon the Julia Side Chair at the Home Decorators Collection for the bargain price of $149.00.  Now I know it's not a perfect match, but this is a chair I may have to purchase.  I don't love the seat, but I'm certain I can re-upholster it.  How great will it look with some chevron inspired fabric?

fabulous find

Hillary and I love a good sale.  We thought it only appropriate to share our finds with you, our lovely DC readers!  I stumbled upon this fun and flirty printed skirt from Lord and Taylor and instantly fell in love.  You could pair this with a blazer and wear to work or wear with a tank and fun gold accessories for a backyard bbq.  The possibilities are endless!  And, it's almost 50% off the original price!  Score!

laissez les bons temps rouler!

Happy Fat Tuesday to all of our Domestic Chic readers out there!  This will be my first Fat Tuesday since dating a Southerner, so I'm going to go all out and try to make it as authentic as possible for G.  Tonight's menu? Shrimp and Grits.  For dessert...remember, I do not bake...King (cup)Cakes!

if the shoe fits, part II

I've had my eye on this flat for a while, and with spring right around the corner, it might be time to invest.  I love that local Kansas City retailer, Habitat Shoe Boutique, carries it in store. I'm wild about the bright colors!

Oxfords have been cool for awhile, but I'm just starting to catch on. Yes, once again, late to the game. I've been eyeing these classic shoes since fall and finally deciding to give in. But, I'm diving in slowly...Since I can't quite yet adopt the full on brown laced loafer (which reminds me of my Dad!), I'm taking it easy with one of these adorable, casual and summery Steve Madden versions.

chevron!

I know I'm late to the chevron party...but I don't really care.  Better late than never, right?  Enjoy!

etsy favorites

You may have noticed that I have a thing for Etsy.  This website is fantastic.  It's like ebay or amazon, but for artsy hipsters.  Since I like to think I have a little bit of "artsy hipster" in me, I frequent this website almost daily.

I've started a little collection of favorite "shops" and thought I would share them with you.  First up, the online shop at High Street Market.  Kelly Galvin Robson, the genius behind High Street Market, is just the cutest.  What I wouldn't give to spend a day shopping with her!  Even better?  She was just featured in our new favorite online magazine, Matchbook!  You can read more about Kelly and her fabulous finds at her blog, High Street Market.  Below are some of my favorite finds from her online etsy shop:

emerald city

We loved all of the emerald accessories at the Oscars!  The jewelry worn by Reese WitherspoonAnnette Benning, and Amy Adams was to die for!  I thought I'd start searching for some real world finds, since Lord knows I don't have Cartier, Neil Lane, and Bulgari on speed dial...yet.

here comes the sun

It is SUNNY today! And it's about 54 degrees! Which combined equals basically a heat wave since there isn't snow, sleet, ice, or hail involved. I'm happy.

In light of the warm(er) weather I wanted to post a few pairs of sunglasses that have caught my eye recently. Protect those eyes in style!
